Over 25 years of experience working with world class publishers.


Early in his freelance career Richard had many opportunities to illustrate book covers and magazine covers. Many early pieces were done with Harcourt Inc. and Scholastic Publishing illustrating educational book covers. Magazines included Yankee Magazine, Cross Country Skier, Fly Fisherman, Ducks Unlimited, and Readers Digests Angels Magazine. In 1997 Richard illustrated his first full length children’s picture book, Pam Conrad’s “Animal Lullabies”, published by Harper Collins.
Soon came a book based on the classic Christmas story “Frosty the Snowman". After a run of book covers for the Scholastic's "Gaurdians of Ga'hoole" series Richard illustrated the wildly successful "Marley" books. Eventually, Richard crossed paths with the world's most lovable celebrity hippo, Fiona whose smash hit series of books has taken Richard to countless schools, events, news appearances and book signings all over the United States.
